Narrative Clip 2: Progress (sort of)

So after the initial disappointment about the Narrative Clip 2's performance and some back and forth with Narrative customer support, there's some progress to report.

A frustrating first week with the Narrative Clip 2

I've been lifelogging with the Narrative Clip 1 for a little over two years now. It has become a habit. In fact, I feel sort of naked on the rare occasion when I don't have the clip with me. I've also learned to live with, even embrace, the limitations of the clip. But being a geek and a gadget lover, I did of course pre-order the Narrative Clip 2 when it was announced.

It took quite a while to arrive, but last week finally brought a shiny new box with a shiny new gadget in it. It didn't take long for the joy to turn into frustration, though.

One Year in Lifelogging

For one year now I've been wearing my Narrative Clip wearable camera pretty much everywhere I go. So it's about time for a retrospective.

Experiments in Lifelogging, Part 11: A talk and an interview

I've done short presentations about lifelogging before, at ACCU 2014 (as a lightning talk, in English) and at the local Webmontag (in German). These also served as test drives for a possible longer and more in-depth talk about the topic. The time for that talk finally came at FrOSCon, an open source conference in Sankt Augustin (near Bonn, Germany's former capital).

Experiments in Lifelogging, Part 10: We have Normality

Not only has it become a habit to put on my Narrative Clip when I leave the house; I've also come to rely on it to capture events - or at least the spirit of events. Now that I know the limitations of the camera (like its problems in low-light conditions), I know when to take additional photos with a "real" camera and when to simply let the Narrative Clip do its thing.
